What I'm doing now

What I'm working on, reading, and thinking about right now.

A snapshot of where my time and attention actually go this month — work, side projects, books, open questions. Updated monthly. Inspired by Derek Sivers's /now movement.

01 — Work

At Motilal Oswal.

Eight months into the SVP — Digital Products role at MOFSL. The mandate spans three product lines:

  • RIISE — the flagship retail app for trading and investment. Currently shipping the v2 redesign of the discovery + research experience.
  • Sales enablement — internal tooling for the field force: CRM, journey orchestration, dashboards.
  • Third-party product distribution — front- and back-office stack for distributed financial products.

First six months were mostly listening. Now the bets are being made.

02 — On the side

Podcast & the book.

  • This or That with Bhartendra — recording weekly. The current arc is interviews with AMC equity heads and behavioral finance practitioners. Episode 30+ next month.
  • The book — early outline phase. Working title is private for now. About what 15 years of building money platforms taught me about the Indian retail investor.
  • Slow Thought — quietly publishing short personal essays on Instagram. Reflections on human nature, behavior, and self. Not finance.
03 — Reading

What's on the nightstand.

  • Same as Ever — Morgan Housel. Re-read. The chapters on stories and incentives keep paying.
  • Working Backwards — Bryar & Carr. Amazon's PR/FAQ method. Stealing the operating muscle.
  • Poor Charlie's Almanack — Munger. Dipped into intermittently for the past year. Slow because it deserves it.
04 — Thinking about

Open questions in my head.

  • Why does Indian retail still over-trust people and under-trust process? And how does product change that?
  • What does sales enablement look like when half the field force has been replaced by AI agents?
  • Is the podcast format we use (long interview, weekly) the right one, or are 15-minute principle-led episodes the future?
  • How much of "advice" can a product give without crossing into regulated territory? Where's the line?
05 — Open to

What I welcome right now.

  • Podcast guests — AMC CIOs / fund managers / behavioral finance researchers / fintech founders building for retail India.
  • Advisory conversations — for founders building in BFSI / wealth / capital markets. One or two new relationships a year.
  • Peer learning — coffee with other product leaders inside Indian BFSI. Especially welcome from CXOs at AMCs, NBFCs, and brokerages.
  • Speaking slots — on Indian retail investor behavior, product in regulated finance, or the WhatsApp SIP origin story.
06 — Not open to

Filters for inbound.

  • Sales pitches for SaaS tools — I'll find them when I need them.
  • Cold investment-product pitches — please don't.
  • "Quick calls to pick your brain" with no clear question. Send the question in writing — I'll answer if I can.
  • Crypto / Web3 anything. Not my lane.
